I’m aaaaaawful at keeping this up.
Anywho, I’m gonna focus more about showing my work and what i’m all about at uni :’)
I did a t-shirt project based on street style in Manchester, and based my t-shirt around print and native american culture. I cut my tee into a poncho shape, and cut it up into sections. Each section had my own technique/print, and then sewn back together using an overlocker, instead of sewing the usual way with a machine and 1cm seams…..
Here’s the outcome!

I chose to make my own ‘sock outfit’ - I stuck with the ‘jumper’ but decided to create an oversized, batwing style as it reflects my personality - I like wearing comfy, baggy clothes! I used blue and grey socks, some turned inside out as each side of the fabric created a different effect. I left the hems unturned for a slouchy appearance. So - here’s my ‘oversized’ sock jumper. Enjoy, and have a go at making one yourself!
'Sock Jumper' by Maison Martin Margiela
Here’s a link to Maison Martin Margiela’s creative sock jumper. I had to use this creation as inspiration towards creating my own sock outfit for my project at uni. It’s quite fun once you get into it, the possibilities are endless creating with a few pairs of socks - give it a go yourself maybe using the instructions i’ve linked to!
“Margiela is known for elevating deconstruction to an art form. Considered a conceptual designer, Margiela often presents what might be described as extreme fashion, radical collections whose ideas push the boundaries of what constitutes fashion.”
“Clothes made of trash bags or vintage home furnishings (think car seats, complete with seat belts), jewelry derived from ice cubes (they melted, streaking the clothes blue and pink)—it’s anyone’s guess as to what will inspire him next season.” - STYLE.COM
My return!
I’m back, again! I’m not very good at this. Ever since I’ve started back at uni i’ve been drained with all this work! It was my week off this week and i’ve hardly been near a computer - hence the lack of posts, clashing with previous deadlines. So, I’m back!
I’ma leave again for bed time now however. I’ll leave you with a song i’m currently obsessed with. Gucci Gucci by Neon Hitch - I’d never heard of her until seeing a post of her video on Alis Pelleschi’s facebook page (photographer/stylist, amazing work check her out!)
So yeah, these past few days I’ve been singing ‘gucci gucci fendi fendi pradaaaaa’ in my head, a line from the song and it’s now stuck! A heads up to Neon Hitch and Alis Pelleschi, I suggest you check them both out!
Night xo
